The territory of “ Tenuta della Selva” is a heaven of more than 1000 hectares, 700 of which are planted with Mediterranean wood, where, in a perfect wild state, reproduce wild boars, foxes, pheasants, roes, hares, porcupines and numerous species of birds. The heart of the estate is a central village, made up of ancient country houses, which are the frame of the splendid owner’s villa, dating back to the XII century. In the surrounding hills, farmhouses, fortified structures, peep into the luxuriant green of the wood. Almost all of them are perfectly restructured: from 2 to 6 sleeping accommodations are completely furnished and offer always the highest comfort. Among woods and fields, more than 20 kilometres of country roads and paths allow to enjoy the natural and rural richness, exalted by the spring’s charm and the bright “palette” of the autumn. In this season, in particular, the picking of mushrooms and chestnuts allows easy and rewarding successes. For the lovers of fishing, there are 3 small lakes in the estate, one of which is particularly interesting from an historical and natural point of view. On mountain bike, on horseback or simply on foot, you can dive into this naturalistic charm at the door of the city of Siena. In the pasture, bovines of Limousine breed, are bred in wild state. And their meat, genuine and tasty, can be bought directly at the farm store., from Friday to Monday morning, together with porks, fresh and seasoned sausages, red and white wines, extra-virgin olive oil. They are all estate’s products, whose quality, naturalness and tradition are absolutely guaranteed. “ Tenuta della Selva” is also a renowned and prestigious breeding and training centre for Quarter horses. Some professional men of this field and qualified instructors of the “ Western Riding Italian Association”, personally follow the breeding’ s management. For those who are interested, there is also the possibility of following western riding courses, which go from the lowest level (beginners) to the agonistic training. From kilometres from the estate, there is the village of Murlo, which is an important archaeological reality. In the big palace, ancient seat of the bishops of Siena, are kept Etruscan objects. In the immediate vicinity, there are also the remains of a big residence of the VII-VI century B.C. From the “Selva” you can also reach in a short time and through suggestive roads, a lot of resorts of high artistic and historic interest: San Gimignano, Volterra, Florence, Monteriggioni, San galgano, Monte Oliveto Maggiore, Montalcino, Pienza, Arezzo, always keeping in mind that we are at the door of Siena.
