STRUCTURE DESCRIPTION
The farmhouse “ La vecchia camera” is situated among the gentle hills of Crete Senesi, dipped into the Natural and Artistic Park of Val d’Orcia, in the middle between San Giovanni d’Asso, Montalcino and San Quirico d’ Orcia. In the range of few kilometres you can find a group of small artistic resorts ( Pienza, Montepulciano, Monticchiello, Rocca d’ Orcia etc...) and the thermal centres of Chianciano, Rapolano Terme, Bagno Vignoni and Bagni di San Filippo, which make this corner of Val d’Orcia, an artistic and cultural pearl. The farmhouse, just restored, lies on a small hill from which you dominate the surrounding landscape. From the wide terrace you can enjoy a foreshortening of Mount Amiata, where in summer it is possible to go for wonderful walks, dipped into the green vegetation and in winter it is possible to go skiing. The structure is born at the end of the XV century as a house for knights and those who travelled by carriage; on the floor below there were the stables where the animals were kept , while on the floor above you could relax in the rooms and refresh yourself; from here, it comes the farmhouse’s name : “Camera”. With the passing of years and the smaller passing on that road, which, crossing the whole Val d’Orcia, led to Val d’Arbia, the aim of the structure has changed and it has turned into the typical Tuscan farmhouse, where the whole family, often very numerous, shared the agricultural works. Also our farmhouse is a family enterprise, coming back, in this way, to its original destination as a reception place. In our farm we delight our guests with a lot of menus which change everyday according to the season and following the tradition of the Tuscan plain cooking. Pasta and sweets are home- made and for the cooking of numerous dishes we still use the wood oven.
